ETERNAL football rivals Dynamos and Highlanders go to war this weekend in the pick of the crop of the Castle Larger Premier Soccer League Day 29 match set for Sunday.

Revived Bulawayo based giants Highlanders are on an eight match unbeaten run and want the scalp of their biggest rivals in the biggest match on the domestic calendar.

Dutch coach Hendrikus Pieter de Jongh told journalists at a weekly press briefing that his side are looking for nothing short of victory when they meet a Dynamos side that has turned into draw specialists after a promising start to Tonderayi Ndirayi’s return to the team following his shock departure from Ngezi Platinum early this year.

“It is a big match for the two clubs but our fans want all three points and that what we are looking for.

“Dynamos has played several draws. Morale is high in our camp and we are heading in the right direction. We are hoping to end the season in a good position even if we finish in the top eight we would have done well. Top four is however our target and its looking a distinct possibility with each passing game,” said de Jongh.

Highlanders a bubbling with confidence after dispatching relegation threatened Yadah 3-1 in a mid-week fixture this week while their rivals conjured up another draw for the umpteenth time. Ndiraya apologised to the club’s fans but pleaded for patience.

“We would like to apologise to the fans and at the same time appeal to them not to lose heart and keep on backing us. The kids need our support and the fans are critical,” he said.

Highlanders and Dynamos are all locked on 39 points with Bosso in sixth position because of a better goal difference. While matches between the two rivals rarely follow the script or form book, De Jongh, has already tasted victory against Dembare after dumping the struggling Harare giants out of the Chibuku Super Cup.

Highlanders will however miss red-hot striker Prince Dube who is serving a two match suspension after getting expelled in the match against ZPC Kariba.
